Fish Talk Radio

Fish Talk Radio is about getting the latest information to anglers all over the country, promoting fishing, conservation and outdoor adventure.

Host John Henigin is winner of multiple awards as the “Best Radio Show of the year”, by The Outdoors Writers Association of California.

Having fished Baja every year since the early ’80′s, John owns a condo in Cabo San Lucas. When at home in Santa Barbara he can be found aboard his boat parked at Lake Cachuma or fishing the Santa Barbara Channel. As tour guide for REEL FUN group fishing trips, John enjoys taking anglers to Alaska, Mexico and Costa Rica.

Co-host Mike Moropoulos was born in the Greater Los Angeles area, not entering the world of water until he was 16 years of age. At the urging of his high school buddies he tagged along to Crescent Cove (a.k.a. snuck in) in Orange County to “skin dive”. He entered the water as a cold, nervous neophyte and left a raging monster. A successful encounter with your first beautiful pink abalone in 15 feet of blue water can do that to a person.

That abalone evolved into lobster diving, spear fishing, surf fishing, sport fishing, and ultimately to boat ownership in the Santa Barbara Harbor.

Oh, incidentally, tossed into the mix were a few years at UCSB, 35 years of teaching/coaching at Santa Barbara High School, retirement, and a new career in outdoor writing where he became an award winning columnist. He was twice honored by the Outdoor Writers Association of California with their “Best Column of the Year” award.

While education and professional responsibilities may have somewhat interfered, his enthusiasm for the outdoors persisted.

The monster still lives – although somewhat moderated by age – and was invigorated when John Henigin asked if he would join his efforts on the air.

Co-host Jean Sedar says that the best kind of work is when you’re getting paid to live in a place you love, and that has been her M.O. ever since her days of working in Yosemite and on the Snake River in Jackson, Wyoming. As a fifth generation Santa Barbaran, this entrepreneur has owned and operated Hook, Line & Sinker bait and tackle store and Creative Tackle Suppliers wholesale company, been the Angler/Wrangler guide for a guest ranch, Travel Specialist for the Orvis Fly Fishing Store and for the past 20 years represented buyers and sellers of real estate through Coldwell Banker. She is president of Santa Barbara Flyfishers, teacher for the internationally popular Becoming An Outdoors-Woman program, was instrumental in developing United Anglers’ Saltwater Woman program and now runs her own FISH 4 LIFE program and Las Pescaderas women’s fishing group.

An angler since she was five years old, Jean rounds out her interests as an avid horse woman, dancer, photographer, hiker, writer, camper, snow skier and linguist, with a few “stick and ball games” such as tennis, golf or racquet ball thrown in now and then.
