The much awaited McRib sandwich has come to immense popularity since its introduction to the McDonald’s menu in 1981. Having never completely understood why it has received such a cult-like following, it’s taken me some thirty years and a bottle of Zin to give it a try. If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s essentially a pork patty covered with BBQ sauce and topped with pickles and onions (in this case ordered without). I found the sandwich to be a good balance between sweet and tangy. The pork patty was spongy and juicy and along with the sauce left me in need of napkins. Overall, I can’t say that it’s exactly worth all of the hype surrounding it, but it is definitely a great tasting sandwich that’s worth trying out at least once as it’s only available for a limited time.
